really? how is it too much work? what's wrong with them? heh heh but yes, i'm looking for a more minimal shoe that i can use for regular road running.

This refers to Jancene posting a pic of Nike Frees, saying that she maybe wants to get them as her principal running shoe (where has that post gone, by the way?). I commented that I feel like they’re “too much work”.

Considering that she’s bought her NB Minimus in the meantime, this answer is way too late, but so what, everybody needs new runnings shoes all the time ;)

I couldn’t do all of my running in my Frees, and it’s not even that much at the moment (about 25 miles per week), because my legs are really tired after running in them. I think the Frees are rather extreme in that they have almost no support at all, but that’s the general tendency with all these “minimal” shoes. (The other being a small drop from heel to toe.)

That said, I would have recommended you have a look at the Hoka One One Mafate and/or the Hoka One One Bondi B (links to really good reviews on Slowtwitch).

How are the Minimus for you until now?

Trail running career starting in 3 – 2 – 1 – tomorrow!
My new babies, the Salomon XT Wings GTX. I was actually looking for the version without Gore-Tex, but a) I would have had to wait for a month and b) Winter’s coming and it’s going to be cold and wet, so why not.
After a bit of poking around I realise that the successor has been on the market for a while now, so at first I was like “hmpf”, but then I read reviews by people who have used them both, and I was like “okay”.
They will be broken in with a run from Horgen to Einsiedeln (or the other way around?) tomorrow. I hope the weather stays like today (i.e., perfect)!
